About 10 miles out of the village is Amish country and it’s not uncommon to see them coming through town in their carriages, traveling long distances to create their livelihood as they see fit.

It’s dangerous, to say the least, as modern traffic and mentality have seemingly little interest in anything other than getting to where the ego needs to get at any given moment. Especially when darkness falls, especially in winter when the roads are under the weather.

Still, at times I feel like they have it better than us in many ways and want to give up this overproduced, undernourished modern existence and feel the peace of existing as one with simplicity.

Then I remember they don’t drink whiskey.
