Campfire Afar 8X8 Acrylic on Canvas $90

The hills surrounding our village were a curvy wonder and we were their explorers. Summer nights were often spent outside and often involved a good campfire.

One night I was lost in my own dream and noticed the stars seemed frozen…blurry and stuck in a moment of time. I truly believe I expired at that very moment and although I could look around, everything around me was as a backdrop in a play. I took it in and wondered what I was supposed to do. I noticed one bit of movement, the flickering flames of a very distant campfire.

I focused on that and moved towards it, seemingly never getting any nearer. All at once, I felt the heat of the fire and the sensation of blistering skin.

I came too, lying at the base of the fire, apparently having picked up a rock that was housing the fire, to move it into a better spot.

Sometimes things are better off without human intervention.
